Two

We received these two piggy banks during the summer from our friend Dick and had put them up until Fall. I forgot about them till the other day, when asked what happened to
them I had to think where I had safely put them.

The one with the mostly blue face is Tyler's and the multi-colored pig is Will's.

Christmas Cards

The boys got Christmas cards from their Granny and from a family friend. Tyler was happy to let Dad open the cards and read them to him. Will wanted to do everything himself. He even cleaned up the seasonal confetti that was in one of the cards that he spilt everywhere opening the card.
They liked their cards, but lost interest quickly.

A word on the matching clothes a friend of ours at church has twins that are 4 years old and so we recently got a large collection of clothes with many matching outfits (pants and shirts). The boys love to where the same clothes for now and I know it won't last.

Almost wordless Wednesday

The boys are eating chex's mix cocoa edition for the first time with dad. This was their after dinner treat.

Books from Sami!

We came home from church last Wednesday to find a box by our garage door. The box was from Cousin Sami. She had written the boys a note that she was sending a few of her favorite Christmas books and hoped they enjoyed them. They really have liked them these pictures are from the night we received the books, Dad read two books downstairs. The boys then each picked a book to take upstairs to their room. They have read the Clifford book almost every night.

Thank you Sami and Gwyn for sending the books the boys will enjoy the books for several years.

Someone has a birthday

The preschool department at church presented a musical play at church last
Sunday Morning. They boys were both sheep along with the rest of the 2 year olds.
They had moved around a lot in the practices we had had over the last month.
They stayed still for a few minutes and then became the wandering sheep. Happily
several people have told m they enjoyed watching the boys. The adult sitting with them
is one of their Sunday School teacher who has twin daughters. One daughter of hers
has 4 year old triplets (2 girls and a boy) and a 2 year old son. One of the other daugther
has twin boys that just turned 4 at the end of November. The boys had fun.

Santa part 2

Tyler was first to climb onto Santa's lap. After Will was told Santa would only give him a
candy cane if he sat on his lap he climbed up on his lap. Then turned and held his hand out
for the candy cane. The second picture was as close to smiling they got during their visit with Santa at our church. To be fair the boys have been sick the last two weeks and probably would rather have been playing at home.

Santa at Church part 1

Last year Tyler was eager to sit on Santa's lap. This year he was not so sure. Krista was trying to encourage him to sit on Santa's lap. Will decided to check it out. Then he decided he didn't want to sit on Santa's lap, but Tyler decided to climb up after a couple of minutes.

Trains!

Their is a nice train museum near us, so we went with Grandma and Grandpa Ohio.
Grandpa loves trains and David likes them too. The boys had a lot of fun sitting in the
Engine and then we rode on a train with two cabooses. The Picture of both boys is in a
child sized train the museum bought from a zoo. They have plans to have the train working in the next year and a half. It was a fun, cold but sunny day. This was our activity for the day after Thanksgiving.

Twice as nice

Having two cars for the boys to play with is definitely better then one car. Thanks to grandparents we now have a second car for the boys to drive around. This should lessen the disagreements over who can ride in the car.

dress up

The pictures are from Monday night. Will wanted to wear David's work jacket. Then Tyler decided to wear my jacket. Then they traded jackets, but I couldn't get Tyler before he got out of my jacket. They had alot of fun wearing the jackets.

Dr. visit for Tyler

Today was Tyler's turn to go to the doctor's office for his cold/infection. He has had a cough all this week and has had rough breathing a couple of times. The verdict is bronchiolitis and a sinus infection. He had a breathing treatment at the doctor's office and had a little bit of wheezing and of course was very energetic.

The boys are both on amoxicillin, one of the antibiotics that Publix's fills for free. Hopefully they will feel much better by the end of the weekend.

Midnight Cry

Will was the provider of the half past midnight cry and would not settle down for almost 25 minutes. So he went to the doctor today. Disclaimer he has had a cold for about 11 days and I was planning to take him tomorrow. He does not have an ear infection but does have a sinus infection. We saw a different physician's assistant then we normally do and she said the bumps on his face are probably caused by a virus and will go away eventually or we can get a cream to put on them that may make them go away faster. For now we will probably leave them alone, unless they are bothering him.

Tyler also has a cold/infection that he has had for a little over two weeks, I will take him tomorrow to the doctor.

Speech test

Will went to the speech lab at the Cranofacial center yesterday. He liked the toys to play with while we waited in the room, but he did not like the tests. The first thing that Dr. Riski the director of the speech pathology lab did was to examine his mouth. The good news is that his palate is healed and appears to be long enough to make the speech sounds. The concern is that he still can't make the sounds he should be able to with his palate now closed, he also can't drink thru a straw or use a valve on a sippy cup. It is possible that pharynx is not in the correct place in his throat to deep and this may impact his speech. The second part of the test was by computer and it was interesting to see. Will didn't like the test because it uses a u shaped piece of metal with a microphone on both sides to pick up the sounds from the mouth and the amount of air escaping his nose. Mommy modeled it first and then Will tried it with the promise of getting something out of the treasure box.

We are working on the following sounds that involve pressure to make: p, b, t, d, k, g, s, sh. He can make the nasal sounds m, n ng (ring) and low pressure are okay: l, w, y,r, h. So we are back to asking him to hold his nose and whisper his sounds. Whispering sounds is hard because he loves to be loud. We go back in February to see if he is making progress.

Since he didn't have any testing that school based Speech language pathologist (SLP) use his school based SLP will evaluate him the next two weeks and then we will have his eligibility meeting and create a speech IEP for him.

Big boy beds!

Well the boys like their big boy beds better during the day then they do when it is bed time. These pictures are from last Saturday when we put them together after a morning at the zoo. The matching Thomas the tank engine bedding is a birthday present from Grandma and Grandpa Ohio. They love their pillows and the freedom to get in and out of bed. They now go to sleep within 40 minutes of being put in bed. Tyler doesn't fall asleep with a parent in the room and Will really wants a parent to stay in the room. Will cries so hard and loud when left in his room! He has been sleeping most if not all night in his bed.

Will decided to check out the underside of the bed after they were put together. He was all the way underneath and Tyler was amused. Tyler has not decided to try the same move. Saturday night they got up around 10 pm turned on the light got in Will's bed to read books. They also decided to turn off the monitor. They were not happy when dad told them they had to go to sleep. They have turned on the lights and read one other night. They seem to be adjusting to their big boy beds.

The pony ride!

Saturday morning we went to a fall festival at the UGA extension service Bamboo farm and coastal gardens with Granny, Trevor and Travis along for the adventure. We had told the boys Friday night that there would be a pony ride. Tyler has been on a pony ride before and was very excited. Will said he wanted to ride the pony/horse also. As we waited in line both boys were excited. Then we got to the ponies, Tyler got right on held onto the pommel and was ready for the ride to start. Will as you can see in the first picture wanted nothing to do with the pony even though I picked the smallest pony. So for the first three laps I held onto the horse and will and talked about how mommy rides horses and that he would have fun and anything else I thought might help him get on the pony. Suddenly he looked at me and said I ride. I turned to put him on the pony and he leaped onto the pony. Once on he was as happy as could be until the ride ended.
